With the tone control you can set the corner frequency of the bass and treble filters as well as the
cut/boost. The following plots show the sort of adjustment range achieved by the tone control.
Using PEQ with Dirac
™
The parametric EQ (PEQ) can be used to modify the Dirac calibration. The Dirac calibration can be used
to flatten the response and the PEQ can be used to adjust this after the calibration. It can be argued that
this is equivalent to setting a target curve in Dirac. If this is your intent, be sure to disable PEQ before
doing a Dirac calibration.
PEQ is NOT automatically disabled during a Dirac calibration.
Alternatively PEQ can be used as pre-compensation to make Dirac’s job a bit easier. This is an advanced
technique often used in professional situations. HTP-1 supports it, but you must be careful. This requires
PEQ to run “before” Dirac. The distinction is actually whether PEQ is enabled while the Dirac Live
™
calibration is run. If you wish to use PEQ as pre-compensation, enable and configure PEQ on the
EQUALIZATION

tab before doing the calibration. Use the

Export
​
feature on the
​
SYSTEM
​
tab to save this
pre-compensation. Depending on your goal, you may then disable this pre-compensation when engaging
the Dirac® filter.
