HTP-1 Installation and User Guide Release 1.8.1
IR Code Over HTTP Remote Control
An IR code over HTTP gateway has been added to allow the IR code listed in the above section to be sent
using the HTTP protocol for remote control and automation of the HTP-1. All IR code except “Power
Off” and “Power On” are supported.
The URL for the gateway is http://192.168.1.100/ircmd?code=XXXX where XXXX is the ‘NEC Code’ from
the ‘IR Code Table’ above. You should replace 192.168.1.100 with the actual IP address of your unit.
More than one NEC Code may be sent by separating them with a comma. The IR code must be sent
exactly as described because it is recognized as a text string: it must be 4 characters and lower case. The
following examples demonstrate sending multiple IR code using the ‘wget’ and the ‘curl’ commands:
●
Selects HDMI 1, Native upmix mode, unmute:
wget "http://192.168.1.100/ircmd?code=0ff0,1ee1,4cb3"
curl "http://192.168.1.100/ircmd?code=0ff0,1ee1,4cb3"
●
Selects HDMI 2, Direct upmix mode, mute:
wget "http://192.168.1.100/ircmd?code=10ef,4bb4,1be4"
curl "http://192.168.1.100/ircmd?code=10ef,4bb4,1be4"
In all cases the HTTP request returns a JSON string of the current system status. This is an advanced
feature that may be useful for automation and control. Note that some properties are self evident
about their meanings but some internal properties are not documented; they are to be ignored.
Third Party Applications
A number of third parties have added support for the HTP-1. These are discussed in the HTP-1 section of
the AVS forum. Two that bear special mention are the “preset editor” and the “BEQ” program. The
preset editor allows a user to assign actions to the preset buttons on the remote control. The BEQ
program allows for sophisticated editing of PEQ settings.
Privacy Disclosure
The HTP-1 system has been designed to work with the Amazon Alexa Voice Control Smart Home Skill. As
such, data originated from the unit is sent to Amazon’s Alexa cloud servers in support of the operations
of the Smart Home Skill.
The HTP-1 is designed to operate inside of a home firewall. Exposing its Ethernet interface directly to the
wild internet is strongly discouraged.
On system start up a connection is made to the Amazon Alexa cloud server. A unique identification is
included in this connection such that this unit could be uniquely identified. Such connection is persistent
and is always connected whenever the system is powered up.
