Example for a mixer setting for a winged model:
Aileron differentiation
If you have a winged model with two aileron servos that are controlled separately, then to optimise the flight cha-
racteristics, you can use the mixer function to program an aileron differentiation. Doing so, the two ailerons will be
deflected to differing extents.
When the aileron is deflected downward, the surface profile is given more curvature, and the air resistance is incre-
ased. As a result, the outer surface of the curve becomes slower.
At the same time the aileron for the inner curve of the surface is deflected upward, the surface profile is given less
curvature, the air resistance is reduced and the inner curve of the surface becomes faster.
As a result of the negative turning momentum thus created, the model steers less well on the whole.
For this reason, the aileron deflecting downward (on the surface of the outer curve) should not deflect as far.
As something to go by, in normal flight a value of 2/3 (approx 70%) of the full deflection can be taken as the starting
value.
You have to determine the optimum value yourself through actual flying, however. It is dependent on the surface
profile, model type and speed, because at high speeds the negative turning momentum does not make as much a
difference. For aerobatics, it might also be advantageous to have the maximum rudder deflection available to both
sides.
Put the second aileron servo on a free channel of the receiver.
In the following example, the input presented applies when the left aileron servo is put on Chan-
nel 1 and the right aileron servo on Channel 5.
Select a mixer.
On the starting screen, press the [MIX] button.
Select [Mix 1]
Output Channel 1 is connected to a aileron in Stick Mode 2.
Couple Output Channel 1 of the transmitter (aileron) also to the (right)
aileron on Channel 5.
Reverse the running direction of the right servo by setting the [UP
Rate] and [Down Rate] each to -100%.
Switch the mixer permanently on ([Switch ON]). When you put this
mixer on one switch and switch off the mixer, then only the one aileron
servo on Channel 1 is functioning.
Then, in the EP setting, set the maximum value for the aileron deflecting
downward, e.g. 70%.
Enter the value 70% in the left column.
Confirm the selection with [OK].
