4. CONSTRUCTION OF GEARED MOTOR
4.1 Reducation gear unit (see the construction drawing).
4.1.1 Type saddle (ST-D, ST-D-U, ST-D Type)
This reduction gear unit is of 2- speed type consisting of herical gear (in gear case)
and spur gear (out of gear case).
(1) Disassembly and assembly (gear case)
Loosen bolts used to secure the gear case to the L bracket and hammer the output shaft end
lightly with a mallet to remove the output shaft and 2nd gear from the gear case. In the case of
SP-0.2D and SP-0.4D the gear case is unified with the housing. When a coupling is used,
remove the snap ring in the coupling case and hammer the 1st gear shaft end lightly with a
mallet to remove the 1st gear shaft. The removed parts can be assembled in the reverse steps.
When they are assembled, apply grease to all tooth faces of 1st gear (motor shaft), 2nd gear
and spur gear (out of gear case).

4.1.2 Type saddle (ST-2.2D Type)
The reduction gear assembly is of two-stage gear combination.
Helical gear is used for 1st stage, and spur gear for 2nd stage.

Disassembly and assembly
Loosen the bolts used to secure the gear box and L bracket.
Hammer the motor shaft on its end face with a mallet lightly to remove the motor shaft,

gear, 3rd gear shaft and 2nd gear from the gear box.
The reduction bear assembly can be assembled again in the reverse steps. When it is
assembled, fill the spaces where grease is required with an amout of grease, almost
equal to half of apace capacity.
Gear meshing condition should be carefully checked during assembly.
