Starting the Engine
Double Handle Model (5300UK)
l
Turn the engine switch (3) to the "I" (ON) position with the throttle lever (4) in the fully closed
(Engine idle speed) position.
NOTE
○
The engine switch is located on the right side grip.
l
Slowly push the priming pump (5) several times until the fuel comes out of the overflow tube
(6). When the gasoline overflows, stop pushing the priming pump.
NOTE
○
The fuel that overflows by pushing the priming pump is by design returned to the fuel tank.
○
There is no fear of flooding the engine, so push the priming pump enough times to get the
engine started.
l
Turn the choke lever (7) to the closed position (upper side).
NOTE
○
When the engine is already warm or on hot days, set the choke lever halfway or fully open.
l
Hold down the set lever (8) and squeeze the throttle lever (9).
l
Push the button (10) all the way down while holding the set lever and the throttle lever.
l
Release the throttle lever first and then release your hand.
l
Confirm that the button is in the depressed position.
WARNING
During engine starting, cutting head will rotate and can cause injury.
The cutting head is engaged when engine speed is above idle. This occurs normally
during starting. Keep bystanders, children and animals at least 15 m (50 feet) away
while starting and operating your brushcutter. Adjust idle speed down if cutting head
rotates while engine is at idle.
