If you are not replacing the hard drive, remove the drive from the drive bracket (see
Removing a Hard Drive From a Hard-Drive Bracket on page 35) and replace the
empty bracket back into the drive bay.
7. Close the appliance. See Closing the Appliance on page 30.
Installing a Hard Drive

Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only
perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product
documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team.
Damage due to servicing that is not authorized is not covered by your warranty.
Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
To install a hard drive:
1.
Power off the appliance and attached peripherals, and disconnect the appliance
from the electrical outlet and from the peripherals.
2. Open the appliance. See Opening the Appliance on page 30.
3. If present, remove the optical drive mounted above the hard drive 1 (HDD1)
bracket. See
Removing an Optical Drive on page 31.
4. Install the hard drive into the bracket. See Installing a Hard Drive into a Hard-
Drive Bracket on page 36.
