Calibrating Chemical Supply Inlets

Every supply inlet to the CBW is equipped with two shut-off valves and a sampling valve, for testing and

maintenance purposes (see figure). When set for normal operation, both shut-off valves should be fully open.  Do
not attempt to use these as throttling valves as flow rates should not be adjusted.

The quantity of chemical injected is adjusted by varying the length of time the solenoid valve remains open

(C-Bit On-Time). All supply inlet solenoid valves are controlled by C-Bits and programmed on Display L (Display
L or G beginning with Mark 6 software).

To calibrate a supply valve:

1. With the CBW stopped, close the shut-off valve to the module and open the sampling valve fully. Be sure the

shut-off valve from the supply source is fully open.

2. Take several sample quantities from the sampling valve in a measuring bucket. This is accomplished by com-

manding the valve ON for various durations, using Display E (see “Calibration and Testing . . .” elsewhere).
Begin with short durations of a few seconds so as not to overflow the bucket.

3. Average these samples to determine the flow rate for the valve. Use the results of this calculation to determine

the On-Time needed for each formula (to inject the quantity recommended by the chemical supplier).

4. Return the shut-off and sampling valves to their normal position.
