6.0 Configuration
6.2 Settings (S) Registers
The majority of modem configuration is done via the Settings (S) Registers.
Section 5.0 provides information on the available factory default settings as related to
operating modes and network topologies; this section examines each S register in
detail. Appendix C is a quick reference for the S register options.

This register determines in which mode the modem will be upon power-up. If selected
to power-up in Command Mode, the modem will be offline from the wireless network,
and ready to be configured upon power-up. The typical mode of operation is for the
modem to power-up in Data mode: ready to participate in data transfer over the
wireless network.

Escape character. If >127, escape feature is disabled. Modification of this register
may be necessary when connecting the modem to a telephone modem where the
+++ character string may result in undesired consequences.
