It is possible to delete any of the writable files stored in flash, including 

startup-config

. If this is done and 

the switch is rebooted without a prior Save operation, this effectively resets the switch to default 
configuration.

17.3.1 

Upload New Version

This Page allows the user to update the software used to run the Switch. Switch software use the 

mfi

 

extension. For example, 

my-switch-software.mfi

. After the software image is uploaded, a message is 

displayed that the firmware update is initiated. After about a minute or so, the software is updated and 
the switch restarts.
