Components Tests

IMPORTANT: Check spark plugs and spark plug
wires before the DDIS system. Use Multi-Meter
91-99750 to test DDIS components.

WARNING

When performing the following procedures, be
sure to observe the following:

•

Be sure that engine compartment is well ven-
tilated and that no gasoline vapors are pres-
ent, to avoid the possibility of fire.

•

Be sure to keep hands, feet, and clothing clear
of moving engine parts.

•

Do not touch or disconnect any ignition sys-
tem parts while engine is running.

•

Do not reverse battery cable connections.
System is negative (–) ground.

•

Do not disconnect battery cables while en-
gine is running.

Ignition Amplifier

1. Disconnect ignition amplifier form coil. With the

ignition switch in the “RUN” position, check volt-
age at terminal from ignition amplifier. Reading
should be battery voltage.

2. Disconnect engine harness form ignition amplifi-

er. With ignition switch in the “RUN” position,
check voltage at terminal from engine harness.
Reading should be battery voltage.

3. If voltage readings in steps one and two differ

more than approximately 1/2 volt, ignition amplifi-
er is defective.
