To activate: check whether LIM indica-
tor lamp

is off. If it is, you can acti-
vate Distronic. If it is not, press the
cruise control lever in the direction of
arrow

The LIM indicator lamp in the cruise
control lever is no longer lit. You can
activate Distronic.

Accelerate the vehicle to the desired
speed.

Press the cruise control lever briefly up
or down in the direction of arrow

Remove your foot from the accelerator
pedal.
The vehicle maintains the stored speed
until the distance from the vehicle trav-
elling in front decreases to less than
the specified minimum distance.
Distronic is not available:

for up to two minutes after the engine
is started

when braking

if your vehicle is secured with the elec-
tric parking brake
앫
when the automatic transmission is in
position P, R or N
앫
when you deactivate ESP ®

If you do not fully release the accelerator
pedal, the “DISTRONIC passive” message ap-
pears in the multi-function display. The distance
to a slower-moving vehicle will not then be ad-
justed. You will be driving at the speed deter-
mined by the position of the accelerator pedal.
Setting the specified minimum dis-
tance for Distronic
You can set the specified minimum dis-
tance for Distronic by varying the time
span between 1.0 and 2.0 seconds. This
time span determines the distance that
Distronic is to maintain from the vehicle in
front, depending on your speed. If you se-
lect the distance display using the instru-
ment cluster operating system
(

page 245), you will be able to see the
distance in the multi-function display.

Risk of accident
The brake pedal is depressed when Distron-
ic brakes. The movement of the pedals must
not be impaired in any way.

Do not place any objects in the footwell.

Make sure that floormats and carpet are
firmly secured.
앫
Do not place your foot underneath the
brake pedal, otherwise it could become
trapped.
You could otherwise cause an accident and
injure yourself and others.
