Bear the following in mind when loading and
transporting loads:
R
Never exceed the permissible gross weight
or the gross axle weight rating for the vehicle
(including occupants). The values are speci‐
fied on the vehicle identification plate on the
vehicle's B-pillar.
R
Position heavy loads as far forwards as possi‐
ble and as low down in the cargo compart‐
ment as possible.
R
If possible, always transport loads in the
cargo compartment. Only use the cargo com‐
partment enlargement if the load does not fit
in the cargo compartment.
R
Always place the load against the backrests
of the front seats or rear seats.
R
Secure the load using the tie-down eyes and
distribute the load evenly.
R
Use tie-down eyes and fastening components
that are suitable for the weight and size of
the load.
If the rear bench seat is not occupied:
R
Insert the seat belts into seat belt buckles of
the opposite seat belt in a diagonal pattern.
R
Secure the load with sufficiently tear-resist‐
ant and wear-resistant tie downs.
R
Pad sharp edges for protection.
