Removingtherearaxledriveshafts

Before removing the drive shafts of the rear axle, lock
the differential with a bolt in order to immobilize the
shift sleeve. Problems could otherwise arise when the
drive shaft is reinstalled.
Lockingthedifferentialwithabolt

Remove electrical connector

Unscrew sensor using box wrench (size 27 mm).

Carefully screw bolt

all the way into shift cylinder
housing.

Ifitisnotpossibletoscrewinthebolt

Pull out drive shaft about 100 mm and twist until the
bolt

can be screwed fully home.
Removingtherearaxledriveshafts

Remove the key from the key slot.
M
Lock the differential with a bolt.
M
Unscrew bolts

on wheel hubs.
M
Place oil pan under wheel hub.
M
Collect escaping oil in a suitable container.
M
Pull out both drive shafts.
M
Use a cover to protect the wheel hub against dirt, see
page 69.
M
Refill with oil.
