The Activity LED does not come on:
Check that the Subnet Manager has been started.
9.3 Management Module
Yellow LED for the Fan Drawer Leaf is Lit
1. Make sure that there is nothing blocking the front or rear of the chassis and that the fan modules
and ventilation holes are not blocked (especially dust over the holes).
2. If you find dust blocking the holes it is recommended to clean the fan unit and remove the dust
from the front and rear panels of the switch using a vacuum cleaner.
3. Remove and reinstall the fan unit. Make sure the mating connector of the new unit is free of any
dirt and/or obstacles. See Section 5.5 on page 37.
Note: Should any of the boards shut down due to over temperature, follow the procedure start-
ing in Step 1.
Yellow LED for the Fan Drawer Spine is Lit
1. Make sure that there is nothing blocking the front or rear of the chassis and that the fan modules
and ventilation holes are not blocked (especially dust over the holes).
2. If you find dust blocking the holes it is recommended to clean the fan unit and remove the dust
from the front and rear panels of the switch using a vacuum cleaner.
3. Remove and reinstall the fan unit. Make sure the mating connector of the new unit is free of any
dirt and/or obstacles. See Section 5.5 on page 37.
9.4 Spine Board
The yellow LED labelled ATTN on the Spine board is lit:
1. Make sure that there is nothing blocking the front or rear of the chassis and that the fan modules
and ventilation holes are not blocked (especially dust over the holes).
2. If you find dust blocking the holes it is recommended to clean the fan unit and remove the dust
from the front and rear panels of the switch using a vacuum cleaner.
3. Remove and reinstall the spine board. Make sure the mating connectors of the unit is free of any
dirt and/or obstacles. See Section 5.4 on page 35.
4. Make sure that the spine and the Leafs both have the same version of FW.
Caution: Do not run the switch without the fan module for more than one min-
ute!
Immediately replace the Leaf fan module.

Immediately replace the spine fan module.
