10-15. Vertical Coincidence (Aniseikonia) Test
- Purpose: Operate Aniseikonia and vertical Heterophoria with
coincidence chart during subjective test.
- Chart: Vertical Coincidence (Aniseikonia) chart
- Auxiliary Lens: Polarized filter with 135 degrees (for right eye), and
45degrees (for left eye)
- Objective: The right half of the square seen with right eye and the
left half of the square seen with the left eye must be
arranged as a regular square, and the fixation should be
the center of square.
- Operation sequence
1.
Press coincidence (Aniseikonia) chart to enter horizontal
Heterophoria mode.
2. Ask the patient whether he can see the square chart, if yes, ask
whether that up/down side of square chart is arranged straightly.
- If the left half square chart is tilted toward upside: “Upside
Heterophoria of right eye”. Turn the dial counterclockwise to BD
prism, until the left and right half square are arranged straightly.
- If the right half square chart is tilted toward upside: “Upside
Heterophoria of left eye”. Turn the dial clockwise to increase PU
prism, until the left and the right half square are arranged straightly.
3. As a final check, ask the patient whether he can see the dot in
the middle and the square chart, and whether the size of
upper/lower square is of same.
- If the size of the left/right square is same, there is no Aniseikonia.
