Appendix A Troubleshooting

A: Move your ADAPTEC card to an I/O port other than 300
or 330. If you find this solution inappropriate, please contact
Mediatrix Technical Support for instructions on how to work
around this problem.

Q: My BIOS does not seem to configure the Audiotrix
3D-XG. INIT3DXG.EXE displays values of 0000 for all
devices of the Audiotrix 3D-XG v1.0.

A: The Audiotrix 3D-XG v1.0 EEPROM resource data file
v1.0 identifies the sound card as an active device during the
boot process. This ensures that the Plug’n’Play BIOS assigns
proper resources to the card so that a “F8 BOOT in MS-DOS
Mode Command Line Prompt Only” results in an environment
that is ready to play games requiring Sound Blaster and MPU-
401 support. You will need to run the INIT3DXG.EXE utility
to configure the card.

Q: Although all the resources identified as BEST are
available, the BIOS of my computer does not use the BEST
settings. Instead it seems to choose OTHER ACCEPTABLE
and put some resources completely out of reach of most DOS
games.

Example: Although I/O port 388 was available, MY AMI
BIOS configured the FM synthesizer to Port 398 which is
useless for most DOS games.

A: Use the INIT3DXG.EXE utility to override the settings
that have been assigned by the Plug’n’Play BIOS.

Operational Problems

file located in \AT3DXG\MULTIMID.
