The COM1 Configuration Menu will be presented as shown in

Figure 5-2

below.

Default Mode

—Specifies how this port should behave upon

powerup. Use the spacebar to cycle through the two available
options:

Default to Console

(used for configuring NETio) or

Default to Data

(used for payload communication to an RTU or

PLC).

•

Current Mode—

Shows the mode the COM1 port is currently in.

Press the spacebar to change.

•

Baud Rate

—This menu item is used to set the data rate (pay-

load) for the

COM

port in bits-per-second. [

Format

—This item allows you to set the interface signaling

parameters that will be used. Baud Rate (see above entry for
allowable range), Data bits, parity and stop bits may be set
using this command. [

RX inter-pkt delay (in chars)

—MODBUS defines a “3.5-charac-

ter” parameter. [

Maximum packet size

—This item allows you to select the

TX inter-pkt delay (in ms)

— Specifies the number of characters

that signify the end of a message (inter-character time-out).
A transceiver receiving data through the serial port will send
an end-of-message signal to the remote end.

This command sets / displays the transceiver’s

flow control status. Options are as follows:
