Xciter brings up the fan control dialog. There are three parameters to adjust the spread-out: 

1.

 

With CENTRE you adjust the base value of the channel. In our example that would be the centre 
position of the spread-out. 

2.

 

The FAN parameter determines how much the channel is spread out across the selected fixtures. 

3.

 

The FINE parameter is used to fine tune the spread-out when you are dealing with a 16-bit channel.

The FAN parameter has an additional feature for quick programming. By pressing the bump button under 
the FAN parameter you invert the action of the parameter. A (-) symbol appears in front of the FAN and 
FINE values to indicate whether they are inverted or not. Example: press the bump button under FAN a 
couple of times and witness the effect on the spread-out.

Once you are satisfied with the look, you press [ESC] to leave the dialog and return to the scene/sequence 
editor. 

Note: Like the invert function we discussed in the previous section, this feature will enable you to create 
cross-over sequences in a matter of seconds. If you want to make a cross-over sequence you need to 
escape the dialog to add the first step of the sequence, return to the dialog to invert the spread-out and 
escape again to add the inverted step.

Copy/paste scene 

The copy/paste features are especially useful when you have part of a look that reoccurs in several 
scenes. Xciter’s copy/paste clipboard allows you to store a single look and reuse it freely wherever you 
need it. The clipboard even remains after you exit the programmer. It only disappears when you power off 
the console.
