4. Recovered refrigerant must come from a
“contaminant-free” system. To decide whether the
system is contaminant free, consider:
• Type(s) of previous failure(s)
• Whether the system was cleaned, evacuated and
recharged properly following failure(s)
• Whether the system has been contaminated by
this failure
• Compressor motor burnouts and improper past
service prevent refrigerant re-use.
• Refer to “System Contamination Cleanup” on
page 119 to test for contamination.
5. “Substitute” or “Alternative” Refrigerant
• Must use only Manitowoc-approved alternative
refrigerants.
• Must follow Manitowoc-published conversion
procedures.
