The receiver designates the core within the measurement loop 
marked with red

. 

3.2.2.Batteries  

The Receiver is powered by two 9 Volt batteries. 

When  the  battery  charge  level  is  insufficient  for  correct  operation  of 
the Receiver, a LED indicates the fault. 

Each battery is monitored individually and the fault LED indicates the 
battery  which  is  placed  immediately  beneath  in  the  battery 
compartment.
