12. During reinstallation, use caution when installing the
inductor leads to the capacitors to avoid stripping the
threaded copper capacitor terminals.
DC Filter
Capacitors (C1
and C2)
1. Remove the CM1 option board as described in “Replace
CM1 Option Board.”
2. Remove the diode heat sink assembly as described in
“Diode Heat Sink Assembly.”
3. Remove the CBA1 bracket as described in “DC Circuit
Breaker (CBA1) and Bracket.”
4. Remove the two quick-disconnect connectors from shunt
R3, mounted on the dc capacitor bracket, that go to the
capacitor bus bars.
5. Remove thyristor Q1 mounting bracket, with Q1 attached,
by removing the two mounting nuts on the side wall.
6. Remove the two nuts that secure the dc capacitor clamp to
the center mounting plate.
7. Rotate the top of capacitor/bus bar assembly forward until
capacitor terminal screws, through bus bars, can be
accessed.
8. Noting their connection points, remove screws holding
desired capacitor(s).
9. During reinstallation, use caution when reinstalling leads
to capacitors to avoid stripping the threaded copper
capacitor terminals. Insure capacitor is being installed with
the proper polarity.
DANGER
DC capacitors may be charged even with power disconnected
from the rectifier. This would be true if the main bus bar fuses
are open. Always check all of the dc capacitor terminals
(observe polarity) with a voltmeter before performing this
procedure, and discharge capacitors in a safe manner, if
necessary.
