Removing timing gears and keys
1.
Before removing the timing gears, note the timing alignment marks, Figure 1, on the face of each gear. If the factory
timing marks on the timing gears are no longer visible, scribe the timing gears while they are still in mesh and
installed to the pump to ensure correct reinstallation.
2.
Rotate the shafts while they are installed until the timing marks come into alignment, Figure 2.
3.
Carefully pull the timing gears vertically off of the shafts. Remove them simultaneously, as a pair, Figure 3.
4.
Locate the gear keys in the slots of the shafts, one key per shaft, and remove from the slots, Figure 4.
Note that the keys for each shaft are identical and interchangeable.
