13. Troubleshooting
The following troubleshooting guide addresses some of the common failure modes and possible solutions.
PROBLEM
PROBABLE CAUSE
REMEDY OR CHECK
Leakage at manifold inlet connection
Check for leaks at all joints and connections; Retighten, repair
or replace hose or fittings.
Loss of Cylinder Contents
Leakage in downstream piping system
Check for leaks at all joints and connections; Retighten, repair
or replace piping or fittings.
Leakage at cylinder valve
Check for leaks at cylinder connection and valve; Replace
cylinder
Regulator leaks
Check for leaks at regulator connections; Replace connections
and/or regulator
Line regulator setting too high
Set delivery pressure to specifications
Venting at relief valve
Overpressure due to creeping or faulty regulator
Replace regulator
Regulator freeze-up (Nitrous oxide or carbon dioxide)
Reduce the flow demand or increase the number of supply cylinders.
No power or faulty power supply
Check voltage input to power supply; should be 115VAC;
Check voltage output on power supply; should be 24VAC
Lights not working
Blown Fuse
Check Fuse; replace if necessary
Bad connection
Check connection terminals to lights; should be 24VAC
Faulty Light
Check input voltage to each light; should be 24VAC; if voltage is
OK, replace light.
Empty or near empty cylinders or banks
Verify cylinder contents
All lights show empty
Faulty pressure switch
Check input voltage to pressure switches; should be 24VAC. If
proper input voltage is available to pressure switches, but all
lights still show empty, replace pressure switches.
Control Box/Lights switching back
Creeping regulator(s)
Turn primary knob to right side; observe intermediate pressure
and forth from primary to reserve side
gauge for creep (5 mins). Repeat for left side. Replace creeping
regulator.
Pressure building regulators not set properly –
Pressure building valve should be open while cylinder is in use.
contact gas supplier
Cylinder head pressure should be not less than 200 psi for a 235 psi
relief valve and not less than 300 psi for a 350 psi relief valve
Over-withdrawing the cylinder – system not sized correctly
Add more cylinders
