Chapter 4    Maintenance

86 MultiCom Firewall

 

User’s Manual    

Web Server Advanced Tools

The MultiCom Firewall offers an configuration window for advanced 
maintenance activities.  You just type in the IP address of the firewalls LAN or 
WAN interface (by default http://10.0.0.1), enter any necessary user names and 
passwords (by default user=“multicom” and there is no password), and click on 
the Advanced menu item.  The following tools are available:

Tools

Function

Language 
Selection

Choose which language to see the web interface in or 
choose AUTO to select the language based on the 
language the web browser is configured to use.

Configure Time 
and Date

Enter the new date and time for the MultiCom 
Firewall

Update the 
Firmware

Tells the MultiCom Firewall where the upgrade 
firmware is and to start the upgrade process.

Reboot the 
Firewall

Reboots the MultiCom Firewall using the 
configuration in the “boot” memory position

Restore the 
Factory Defaults

This will delete all passwords, security parameters, 
option keys and configuration files and reboot with 
the factory default configuration

Load Options Key

Loads purchased option keys to activate additional 
features like Virtual Private Networks using IPSec or 
SSH Port Forwarding.

Tools

Function

Configuration 
Tools

Edit a live configuration, upload a new configuration 
from a text file, or save the current configuration to a 
text file.

Firewall 
Configuration 
Status

Advanced statistics about IP Services, Interfaces, 
Security, ARP, Routing, and the current system 
hardware and software.
