Changing Words with Select and Spell
When Dragon NaturallySpeaking makes a mistake,
it may be because the word you said is not in the
program’s vocabulary. In this case, the correct word
won’t be on the Quick Correct list. Here’s what to do:
1.
Select the mistake.
2.
Say
“Spell That.”
3.
Spell or type the word in the Correction box. If
the word has a capital letter, just say
“cap”
before that
letter.
4.
When the correct word appears in the Correction
box, choose it by saying, for example,
“Choose 1.”
You
can choose any number that appears in the list.
Changing Words with Select-and-Say
™
Sometimes the program types the words you said, but
you change your mind. Here’s how to edit your
words.
1.
Select the words you want to change.
2.
Say the new words.
Using Select-and-Say is just like selecting words with
your mouse and typing over them.
Notice that although the Quick Correct list appears,
you can ignore it and just dictate the new words you
want.
1.
Dictate the sentence below.
I have always wanted to see the White House
[period]
2.
Say
“Select White House.”
(If these words are not
there, just select some other words you said.)
The words “White House” should be highlighted on
the screen.
If it didn’t work (for example, the word “select” is
typed in your document), you may have paused in
the middle of saying the command. Say
“Select White
House”
again, and this time say it without pausing.
Select commands work on any text you have
dictated in the DragonPad, but in other programs you may
only be able to select the last thing you said. See your
Command Quick Reference card at the back of this guide
for more information, or the Command Appendix of your
user’s guide.
3.
Once the text is selected, say
“Lincoln Memorial.”
These words should replace
“White House.”
When text is selected, the next thing you say replaces
the selected text. If the wrong thing happens,
immediately say
“Undo That”
to undo the last
replacement.
Deleting Words
To delete words anywhere in your document, select
the words and say
“Scratch That.”
To delete words
you just dictated, pause briefly and say
“Scratch That.”
Dictate the sentence below, without pausing.
Meet me at the front entrance to the Smithsonian
[period]
Say
“Select front.”
Say
“Scratch That.”
The word “front” disappears.
Say
“Go to Bottom”
to move to the end of your
document.
Say (in one long phrase):
I’m looking forward to seeing you
[period]
Pause briefly and say
“Scratch That”
to delete the
entire phrase. If the entire phrase is not deleted, you
can keep repeating
“Scratch That”
(up to 10 times).
