of the socket. Then, carefully lower the CPU straight down into the CPU socket.

7. Close the CPU retainer and lock it into position with the small handle to secure the CPU in the socket.

8. Reinstall the heat sink and fan assembly. See “For service technician only: replacing the heat sink and
9. Reconnect all cables that were disconnected from the system board. See “System board components”
10. If you are instructed to return the CPU, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging
materials that are supplied to you for shipping.
