2. Install and initialize Total Comfort
Control™ Remote Control System.

• Standard Junction Box
• Paper Clip or similar object (for remote
control system initialization)
Installing and Wiring the Receiver
(Wall Switch)
The Receiver for the Total Comfort Control™
Remote Control System connects directly to
the gas valve, stepper motor, and fan control
module with an umbilical cord wiring harness.
2.1. Install a junction box (not provided) on
the wall adjacent to the appliance, within
reach of the remote system umbilical cord
wiring harness. Position the 14-pin termi-
nal within the junction box in preparation
for attachment to the remote receiver.
2.2. When wall finish is complete, install the
receiver in the previously installed junc-
tion box, and connect the 14-pin terminal
to the 14-pin connector on the back of the
receiver.
2.3. Install the receiver cover plate, taking care
to ensure the receiver switch is properly
indexed with the switch cover when align-
ing the components for attachments.
Initializing the Remote Control System
After completing fireplace installation, initialize
the remote control system before operating
the fireplace.
2.4. Insert the (3) provided AAA batteries into
the battery bay in the Transmitter, taking
care to correctly align polarity (+/–).
2.5. Insert the (4) provided AA batteries into
the Receiver battery bay (behind the wall
switch plate), taking care to correctly align
polarity (+/–).
2.6. On the Receiver, place the three-position
slider switch in the REMOTE position
(Figure 25-2).
2.7. On the Receiver front cover, insert the end
of a paper clip (or other similar object; not
provided) into the hole marked “PRG.”
The Receiver will “beep” three times to
indicate it is ready to synchronize with
the Transmitter.
2.8. On the Transmitter, press the ON button.
The Receiver will “beep” four times to
indicate acceptance of the Transmitter’s
command (and set the Receiver to the
Transmitter’s specific code). The system
is now initialized.

CAUTION

is not going to be attended for any
length of time. Always place the
Transmitter where children can not
reach it.

Note: Only route the wiring for the Panel
Backlighting Kit at this point. Do not install
the light assemblies until after installing the
Panel Kit (see next page).

The remote control system provides remote
operation of the following fireplace functions:
• Primary burner ON/OFF
• Thermostat ON/OFF
• Flame height and heat output adjustment
(six levels)
• Blower fan speed (six levels; for optional
Blower Kit)
• Lighting ON/OFF (for optional Panel Back-
light Kit)
The Receiver accepts commands via radio
frequency from the Transmitter and does not
require line-of-sight operation.
The slider switch on the Receiver can be set to
one of three positions:
• ON (manual override)
• OFF (manual override)
• REMOTE (remote control)
