Locked / Damped
Selector switch. Normal position is in Damped. Only
select Locked if hoisting with the winch with the ‘A’
frame inboard. When the ‘A’ frame is outboard or in
motion, select Damped.
Snubber In/Out Motion.
Toggle switches to drive snubber in or out using the
damping cylinders. These controls operate whether
the snubber is locked or in damped mode.
Rotate Motion
Toggle switches to control clockwise or counter
clockwise motion.
Note – When rotating the snubber with the TMS
latched ensure the umbilical is slack to reduce the risk
of birdcaging the armour.
Snubber Up / Left
Selector switch to move snubber either up and down
or left and right.
Snubber Up/Down Toggle switches to control the 600mm up/down
feature.
There is a pressure relief on the Down motion,
however it is not good practice to over lower the
snubber as this will crush the TMS against the ROV.
Snubber Left/Right
Toggle switches to control the 20 degrees sideways
motion. This feature is designed to allow the snubber
to be aligned with the umbilical in strong current
areas. Do not use this function if the vehicle is latched
in or in air. Fully raise the snubber to ensure it is in
the centre position before luffing the A-Frame.
CAUTION –
The 20 degrees sideways motion is only
limited by proximity switches. If these fail the
structure will be damaged as the cylinders over
extend. Check the function of the proximity switches
regularly and keep a good visual check if operating
close to the limit of the swing.
SNUBBER DAMPING
The damping rate is controlled by flow control valve (95), located adjacent to the 5 stack
valve under the skid deck. By rotating the adjuster clockwise the damping rate is
increased and by rotating the adjuster anti-clockwise the rate is reduced.
SNUBBER LATCHING
To latch the vehicle in, hoist the R.O.V. into the snubber, the termination cone will push
past the latches and they will snap back into position under the cone. If you now attempt
to lower the R.O.V. the umbilical will go slack. If required the latches can be powered
back into position by pushing the latch release Toggle switch.
