Domestic Type I
EXAMPLE: Two unrestricted openings measuring 6-inches
by 10-inches (15.24 cm by 25.4 cm) are acceptable.
If a closet door is installed: unobstructed air openings are
required. The air openings shall be located 3-inches
(7.62 cm) from the lower opening (above floor level) and upper
opening (below ceiling). The total free area of the air openings
in the door shall not be less than 130 inch
2
(838.708 cm
2
).
Louvered doors with equivalent air openings are acceptable.
No other fuel-burning appliance shall be installed in the same
closet as the dryer.
Stacked Dryer-Washer Installation __
DAWS0 Series Crossover dryers are mounted on top of
Crossover washers. A mounting kit consisting of an adapter
plate and bolts and washers is included with each DAWS0
series dryer to allow hard mounting of the dryer on top of the
washer. Mounting the dryer will require access to the back
of the dryer after placing it on the washer All installation
requirements for both machines must be observed.
If not already done, set up, level, program, and run the
Crossover washer to confirm desired operation.
A = 6-inches (15.24 cm)
B = 10-inches (25.4 cm)
Remove the Crossover washer top cover and replace with
the mounting adapter plate supplied with the dryer. Resecure
the adapter plate using the two ST3.5 screws originally used
to secure the washer cover. Do NOT use excessive force to
align the plate. Adjusting with a hammer can damage the
washer’s mounting clips compromising structural integrity of
the integrated pair. On the base of the dryer, knock out four
mounting bolt holes. For metered (coin) installations knock
out one washer harness hole.
To install the mounting bolts you will need to remove the
machine service access grill cover located on lower back
side of the dryer. Open the front control panel by unlocking
and removing the two mounting screws. The control panel
rotates forward and down. On metered models, remove the
coin funnel, which is secured in place with a screw and a tab.
For metered (coin) installations, place the dryer on the washer
askew so you can still see the washer coin harnesses coming
out of the top of the washer. There are two. Feed both
harnesses into the bottom of the dryer using the rear cutout
hole. Do not feed through the coin access funnel hole. See
diagram. Non-metered (card and non-coin) installations do
not need to interconnect harnesses between the washer and
dryer.
Align the dryer mounting holes over the threaded adapter
plate holes. The front of the washer and dryer will be flush.
Start the two bolts (with lock washers), which are accessible
from the front of the machine. Start the two rear bolts
accessible via the rear service panel. On metered
installations make sure the washer’s coin harnesses are not
pinched between the machines and tighten all four bolts.
Secure rear service panel.
On metered installations connect the right side coin meter to
the Crossover washer red (0.25¢) harness. The white $1.00
harness is unused. Replace and secure coin funnel. Route
the washer harness on the right of and at the base of the
coin funnel. This will prevent the harness from moving during
wash extra
ct
and blocking quarters from dropping into
the
coin
vault in
the
washer. Make sure dryer coin meter harness
and
unused Crossover white $1.00 harness are secured so
they
do not block the coin drop pathway.
Resecure front control panel.
Fresh Air Supply Requirements ______
When the dryer is operating, it draws in room air, heats it,
passes this air through the tumbler, and exhausts it out of
the building. Therefore, the room air must be continually
replenished from the outdoors. If the make-up air is
inadequate, drying time and drying efficiency will be adversely
affected. Ignition problems may result, as well as premature
motor failure from overheating. The dryer must be installed
with provisions for adequate combustion and make-up air
supply.
Air supply (make-up air) must be given careful consideration
to ensure proper performance of each dryer. Fresh air
ventilation openings shall not be blocked and/or sealed. As
a general rule, an unrestricted air entrance from the outdoors
of 26 inch
2
(168 cm
2
) for each dryer. (Based on 1 inch
2
[6.5 cm
2
] per 1,000 Btu [252 kcal].)
It is not necessary to have a separate make-up air opening
for each dryer. Common make-up air openings are
acceptable. However, they must be set up in such a manner
that the make-up air is distributed equally to all the dryers.
