Preventive Maintenance

For more information on greasing bearings

labeled with yellow “GREASE” tags within this
chapter, go back to the 

Weekly PM

 section,

Grease Bearings

 procedure.

Check Setscrews

Setscrews are used to secure sprockets,

bearings, pulleys, and other rotating parts (Figure
4-15) .

1.

Turn the power OFF at the main discon-
nect switch.

2.

Open the right end frame door.

3.

Check that all setscrews are correctly
tightened.

4.

Close and secure the right end frame door.

CAUTION

Do NOT put setscrews into

the left end frame bearings—

this allows for heat

expansion.

Perform only when the unit is OFF

(with power disconnected) and COOL.

4.3 Monthly PM

NOTE

:

Special maintenance

procedures for the First Month are
listed at the end of the

INSTALLATION 

chapter. Follow

these directions.

WARNING

Do not repair or correct any

of these conditions without
reading and understanding

the REPAIR chapter.

Only QUALIFIED

PERSONNEL should

troubleshoot and repair

this unit.

Make sure that the machine

is completely cooled

down and that power is

disconnected at the

workstation disconnect

switch before servicing

 the unit.

Grease Bearings

Bearings marked with yellow “GREASE” tags

are not subjected to as much stress and high
temperatures as the bearings that require weekly
greasing. Therefore, the bearings with yellow
“GREASE” tags do not need to be greased as
frequently as the bearings with yellow “GREASE
WEEKLY” tags. Use the same high temperature
grease for all the bearings.
