5. Turn the power ON at the main discon-
nect switch. Turn the SPEED knob to
slowest speed.
6. Press the green START button and run
the unit briefly. Make sure the ribbons
track straight and do not rub on the ribbon
guides located under the feed table.
7. If the tension on the ribbons is uneven,
ribbons will track toward the end of the
drive roll where the tension is highest.
Press a red STOP button and turn the
power OFF at the main disconnect switch.
Either turn the adjusting screw counter-
clockwise at the high tension end, or turn
the adjusting screw clockwise at the low
tension end.
8. Repeat Steps 5 to 7 until the ribbons have
the correct tension and track evenly.
9. Stop the unit and turn the power OFF at
the main disconnect switch. Secure the
locknut on each adjustment screw.
10. Close and secure the end frame doors.

The safety interlock switches
are only to be defeated
temporarily while the
procedure is being done.
Never operate the unit unless
all safety systems are
working correctly.
Serious Injury Could Result.
Feed Ribbon Replacement
Feed ribbons stretch over time. When the feed
ribbon tension can no longer be adjusted, the entire
set of ribbons must be replaced.
Ribbons that break should be replaced
immediately. The entire set of ribbons should be
replaced to avoid excessive stress on only one
new, slightly shorter ribbon. At a minimum, it is
recommended that ribbons be replaced in pairs.
Replacing Broken or Missing Feed Ribbons
1. Verify the replacement ribbons are the cor-
rect size and there is sufficient quantity to
complete the procedure. See the
PARTS
LIST.
2. Turn the power OFF at the main discon-
nect switch.
3. Open both end frame doors and locate the
adjusting screws (Figure 7-2, A), which
secure each feed ribbon drive roll bearing
in position. Loosen the locknuts (B), while
holding the screws in position, and back
off each screw the same number of turns
counterclockwise until the ribbons are eas-
ily moved by hand.
4. Raise both ends of the doffer roll by plac-
ing wooden wedges in the slots in each
end frame.
5. If replacing all of the ribbons, remove the
ribbons at this time. Otherwise, remove a
ribbon from both ends of the unit and use
one or both as replacement ribbons. These
end ribbons can then be replaced by a pair
of new ribbons.
6. Position replacement feed ribbons seam
side down on the feed table. Push the rib-
bon under the doffer roll and the red safety
finger guard.
WARNING
Never start the unit
while installing the feed
ribbons. It is dangerous
and unnecessary.
Perform only when the unit is OFF
(with power disconnected) and COOL.
