different distances away from itself. To prevent reflection, try to place the laser beam about 3” away from a
corner, directly in the corner and then again 3” away from the corner. This way you will be able to get an accurate
measurement of both walls and account for any drywall mud build-up.
4.4.2
Drastic Angles
Drastic angles will cause the laser dot to become elongated. The longer this dot becomes the more of likelihood
that a measurement might be incorrect. Try to keep the dot to no longer than 1” in width. Beyond 1”, consider
placing the laser in a different location or using a target to prevent the elongated dot.
4.4.3
Dirty Lens
Just like the lens of a camera, it is important to keep the lens of the laser clean to ensure proper measurements. It
is recommended that before each job you check the lens to make sure there are no fingerprints or other smudges
present. If necessary, use the included microfiber cloth to clean the lens.
4.5 Micro Adjust
The Micro Adjust allows the user to make finer adjustments to the laser beam location on the surface you are
measuring.
4.5.1
Mounting on Tripod
When attaching the LT-2D3D to the tripod, position the horizontal micro adjust knob so that it is in a convenient
position as it will remain stationary relative to the tripod.
4.5.2
Usage
The micro adjusts for horizontal and vertical movement are engaged by pulling the black knurled knobs outward
and disengaged by pushing them in towards the unit. The micro adjusts should always be disengaged when
moving the laser manually.
4.5.3
Adjusting Tension
The tension for the micro adjust knobs can be adjusted with a small flathead screwdriver. The screws for these are
located just next to the respective micro adjust knob, on the flat side of the plates.
When adjusting the tension on either the manual movement or the micro adjusts, small changes will have a large
affect. Also, changing the manual movement tension will likely require the micro adjust tension to be adjusted as
well. If you notice the micro adjust slipping, loosen the tension on the manual movement setscrew slightly.
The tension for manual movement of both the horizontal and vertical axes can be adjusted via set screws using a
0.050" hex driver. The set screw for the horizontal movement is on the bottom of the unit, between the level vial
and tripod mount. The set screw for vertical movement is just below the 2D lock knob.
