Entering Commands at the Boot Prompt
B - 5
A series of commands called Boot Configuration Program (BCP)
commands can be entered at the Boot prompt to configure the MSS. These
commands are a subset of the entire MSS command set.
For example, a typical TCP/IP configuration might use the following
commands:

BCP Command Examples
These commands set the MSS’s address, the software loadfile, and the
loadhost’s IP address (as well as that of a backup loadhost). The server
then reboots using the Init 451 command and will attempt to load the file
MSS.SYS from the host at 192.0.1.188.
The following commands are available from within the Boot
Configuration Program.
•
Help
displays a one-page summary of available commands and
what they do.
•
Init 451
reboots the MSS after it has been configured. If the MSS can
find and load the specified software loadfile, it will restart itself with
full functionality. If it can’t, the server will attempt to reload continu-
ously.
