Shear Plates—Setup & Adjustments
•
Start with Plate 1 all the way out, Plate 6 all the way in and gradually stagger the rest
between them. (Plate 2 is 1/5 out, Plate 3 is 2/5, Plate 4 is 3/5 and Plate 5 is 4/5 out.)
•
If the grind is too fine, start at the top and pull the plates out until it is as desired.
•
If the grind is too coarse, start at the bottom and push the plates in until it is as desired.

Even when the plates are all the way in, the tips of the hammers will not be able to
contact the edge of the shear plates.

The cutouts on the side of the shear plates show the full range of adjustment.
