Making a Relative Power Measurement

The

Offsets & Response

menu allows comparison of an input to a reference value.  The relative difference can be

displayed in dB.  Complete the following steps to set a reference value:

1.  Make sure the sensor is connected to the measurement setup establishing the reference value.

2.  Activate the

Rel

(ative)

 button

on the toolbar. The REL annunciator will appear and the power units will

change to “dB relative” as shown below.  Click the

Set Ref

button below the display to establish the 0 dB reference

point.

3.  You can change the reference level at any time by adjusting the source power then click the

Set Ref

 button.

4.  The display will now indicate power relative to this reference value in subsequent measurements and the REL

annunciator will be active.  Relative power can be disabled as needed by clicking the

Rel

 button on the toolbar.

Alternately, you can turn it on/off by selecting

Offsets & Response > Relative Units On/Off

from the menu

.
