8. LaCie Safe Manager will ask if you want to format the drive us-
ing FAT32 for use with Windows and Mac (
Fig. 29
). If you prefer
HFS (Mac) or NTFS (Windows), choose cancel and use your
operating system’s disk utility to format the Rugged Safe. Please
note that you must format the drive in order to begin storing
data and accessing files.
IMPORTANT INFO:
Using your operating system’s disk utility to
format the Rugged Safe will not destroy or erase the fingerprint se-
curity that you have recorded. However, LaCie strongly recommends
against formatting your Rugged Safe with more than one partition.
There is a high risk of losing data when using the Rugged Safe with
more than one partition. See
