5.2.3.4 Aircraft Reference Symbol
The aircraft reference symbol provides the reference point for the pitch ladder (refer to Figure 5-2). This
symbol consists of two L-shaped “wings” and a fixed square boresight mark, each colored black with a
white outline. The boresight mark represents the center of the display. The aircraft reference symbol is
shown in front of the pitch ladder and remains visible at all times.
5.2.3.5 Roll Pointer
The roll pointer consists of a filled white equilateral triangle drawn on the sky/ground background (refer
to Figure 5-2). This pointer is located on the centerline of the pitch ladder and rotates with a changing roll
condition. The apex points toward the edge of the display (roll scale) in the direction of increasing pitch
and its base remains parallel with the pitch lines. The roll pointer will not obscure or hide any navigation
or air data descriptors.
5.2.3.6 Roll Scale
The roll scale consists of a fixed filled white equilateral triangle to mark zero (refer to Figure 5-2).
Additionally, there are a series of white lines representing
±
10
°
,
±
20
°
,
±
30
°
, and
±
60
°
roll. The lines
radiate out from the center of the attitude display area, starting on an arc of a circle tangent to the apex of
the zero roll triangle. The lines for ± 30° and ± 60° are longer than the other lines.
The ±45° roll marks are configured to either fixed white lines, or filled white equilateral triangles. The ±
45° roll lines of the roll scale is the same length as the 10° and 20° marks. The 45° roll triangles are
smaller than the roll pointer, with their apexes pointing toward the center of the attitude display area.
The zero roll triangle are the same size as the roll pointer, and are located at the top center of the attitude
display area with the apex pointing down.
The roll scale is drawn on the sky / ground background.
5.2.3.7 Slip / Skid Indicator
The slip / skid indicator is a white rectangular symbol located below the roll pointer (refer to Figure 5-2).
This symbol moves with the roll pointer, but moves laterally from the roll pointer to show slip / skid
information. Display of this information requires no external equipment. This function is a configuration
option and is selected by the customization data located within the DCM-3100 Detachable Configuration
Module.
