Battery Replacement
107
7.
A small bracket holds the battery in place. To remove the
battery, Þrst lift up its front edge with your Þngernail, or with
a small ßat-head screwdriver. Then use your Þngers or the
screwdriver to push the battery out of the bracket.
Warning:
Be
very
careful not to damage any circuit boards or
other components inside of the ExpressionMate.
8.
Insert the new battery into the bracket, with the positive (+)
side of the battery facing up.
Replacing the Cover
9.
Notice that there is a groove along the front edge of the top
cover. Replace the cover so that this groove Þts over the front
edge of the ExpressionMate chassis and the main circuit
board. Then push the cover back so that it Þts snugly in place.
10. Line up the holes on the Rear Panel of the unit with the screw
holes in the ExpressionMate Top Cover. YouÕll notice that the
Rear Panel has two groups of three screw holes
. This is
because the Top Cover is held in place by self-threading
screws. After the Top Cover has been removed and replaced
several times, the metal rails in the cover can become
stripped. To avoid this, always follow these steps for
replacing self-threading screws:
•
Put the screw on your screwdriver.
•
Line up the screw in the hole.
•
Slowly turn the screw counter-clockwise until you feel a
slight click.
•
Tighten the screw.
If a rail becomes stripped, use any one of the three holes of
each group. If the rail is
not
stripped, put each screw in the
center hole.
Powering Up
11. When you have Þnished, plug the ExpressionMate in and
turn the power on. The startup screen should display, then
the main Play mode screen should appear. If the ÒPlease
Replace Your Battery!Ó message still appears, review the
battery replacement steps to see if you missed something.
