4.1.3 Assembly Instructions for Motor Feedback
Encoders in Tapered Shaft Version
a) Block the drive shaft for the assembly.
b) Carefully slide the encoder on the shaft. Take care not to
bend the torque stop (stator coupling) during this opera-
tion.
c) Tighten the fastening screw of the tapered shaft with a
1 Nm [0.74 ft-lb] torque.
d) Comply with the maximum permissible shaft offset.
e) Screw the stator coupling or the torque stop without pre-
load on the drive flange. Tighten the screws with a 1 Nm
[0.74 ft-lb] torque.
f) Secure the screws against loosening, see Screw Reten-
tion.
g) Plug the connector or connect the wires while the encoder
is disconnected from the power.
NOTICE
Shield connection
When tightening the screws, take care not to deform the
torque stop, as it also serves for the shield connection of the
motor feedback system.

4.2.1 General Information for the Connection
ATTENTION
Destruction of the device
Before connecting or disconnecting the signal cable, always
disconnect the power supply and secure it against switching
on again.
NOTICE
General safety instructions
Make sure that the whole plant remains switched off during
the electrical installation.
Make sure that the operating voltage is switched on or off
simultaneously for the device and the downstream device.
