6.27 Start-up period
When the stoker is in the start-up phase, the stoker will use the ”STARTUP TIME” to manage to get the
oxygen below the ”STARTUP OXY LIMIT – OXY LIMIT” (17%-3% = 14%). In this exemple, when the
oxygen drops to <14%, the plant will switch into operation and the stoker will start working; however,
should the oxygen fail to to be reduced below <14% before expiration of the “STARTUP TIME”, the
plant will stop and the word “STOP” will appear in the display.
By some fuel types, it may be a little difficult to reduce the oxygen % within the set period and, therefore,
it may be an advantage to prolong the “STARTUP TIME”.
If the fire has extinguished, fuel will be conveyed into the plant only during the “STARTUP TIME” and
the plant will not be filled up completely.

In order to prevent the control from continuously switching between STARTUP and OPERATION during
period when the plant is starting up, we have the parameter “OXYGEN DIFFERENCE”.
”OXYGEN DIFFERENCE” is an explanation to state how much oxygen must be sent below the
”STARTUP OXY LIMIT” in order to make sure to obtain a brisk and strong fire, before switching to
operation.
