HDMI
–
The new reference standard for uncompressed digital audio formats. The
source and processor must both operate HDMI version 1.3 or better to accommodate
the full spectrum of uncompressed audio. The Evolution 707 is one of the fi rst HDMI
1.3 compliant products introduced to the marketplace. The Evolution 707 can decode
all of the standard Dolby Digital and DTS 2-channel and multi-channels formats
including:
8 channels of 24/96 (24bit 96Khz) in Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD
6 channels of 24/192 (24bit 192Khz) in Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD
8 channels of 24/192 (24bit 192Khz) in LPCM
There are (4) HDMI inputs (1) output. The Evolution 707 uses HDMI connections for
HDMI audio.
Optical S/PDIF - (EIAJ Optical or TOSLINK) An industry standard digital audio
connection designed to support Dolby digital, DTS and PCM standards. S/PDIF can
decode A Maximum of 2-channel 24/96 (24bit 96Khz) data or 8 channels of 24/48
(24bit 48Khz). Optical connections use light to transmit data are not physically
grounded making them not susceptible to ground loops or external RFI interference.
There are (4) optical inputs and (1) output. The Evolution 707 uses TOSLINK
connections for S/PDIF optical digital audio.
Coaxial S/PDIF
– An industry standard digital audio connection designed to support
Dolby digital, DTS and PCM standards. S/PDIF can decode A Maximum of 2-channel
24/96 (24bit 96Khz) data or 8 channels of 24/48 (24bit 48Khz). There is no difference
in the signal transmission between coaxial and optical, data is carried over a 75ohm
coaxial cable instead of being optically transferred. There are (4) coaxial inputs and
(1) output. The Evolution 707 uses RCA connections for S/PDIF coaxial digital audio.

CAST
–
(Current Audio Signal Transmission) is a proprietary technology by Krell
that effectively combines the signal gain stages of components connected in CAST
into one gain block. CAST technology virtually eliminates the noise and distortions
created from the use of multiple voltage gain stages. A Krell system connected
in CAST transfers the signal in the current domain, throughout the signal path to
the amplifi er output stage where only one current to voltage conversion (I-to-V)
takes place. CAST enabled products include a transmitter and receiver circuitry
that transfers current from an extremely high output impedance (source) to a low-
impedance input (load), minimizing the cable’s effect on signal transmission.
CAST technology expands the usable audio signal bandwidth well over 2 MHz;
ensuring harmonic refl ections are virtually immeasurable in the audible frequency
range. CAST allows signal transmission over extended lengths of interconnect cable,
allowing fl exible placement for your components, without signal degradation. There
are (2) CAST inputs and (12) outputs. The Evolution 707 uses 4-pin Lemo connectors
for CAST.
