CPU, Memory and Chipset
2.1.1
CPU
The AM4011 supports the Intel® Core™2 Duo processor L7400 (LV) with 1.5 GHz clock speed,
667 MHz FSB and 4 MB L2 cache shared by both cores.
The processor provides Intel® Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel® EM64T) support and
enhanced address range for up to 64 GB memory delivering optimized power-efficient comput-
ing and outstanding dual-core performance with low power consumption. It also supports the
latest Intel’s Virtualization Technology (VT), which allows a platform to run multiple operating
systems and applications in independent partitions, such as performing system upgrades and
maintenance without interrupting the system or the application, keeping software loads and vi-
rus attacks separate, combining multiple servers in one system, etc. With processor and I/O
enhancements to Intel’s various platforms, Intel’s Virtualization Technology improves the per-
formance and robustness of today’s software-only virtual machine solutions.
A further feature of this processor is its support for Intel® SpeedStep® technology, which en-
ables real-time dynamic switching of the voltage and frequency between several modes. This
is achieved by switching the bus ratios, the core operating voltage, and the core processor
speeds without resetting the system. The frequency for the processor may also be selected in
the BIOS or via the operating system.

2.1.2
Memory
The AM4011 supports a soldered, single-channel (72-bit), registered Double Data Rate
(DDR2) memory with Error Checking and Correcting (ECC) running at 400 MHz (PC3200). The
available memory configuration can be either 2 GB or 4 GB.
There are several Reliability, Availability, Serviceability, Usability, and Manageability (RASUM)
features available for the memory interface:
•
Memory error detection and reporting of 1-bit and 2-bit errors and correction of 1-bit failures
•
Integrated Memory Scrub Engine, the scrub engine logs any uncorrectable memory error
•
Support for automatic read retry on uncorrectable errors
•
Memory sparing allows for one memory bank per channel to be held in reserve and
brought on-line if another memory bank in the channel becomes defective.
