Using the IPP (Internet printing protocol) print service, the computer and this ma-
chine are connected over a network.

The IPP print service is supported by the operating system as the standard.

Communications are established with HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol), one
of the TCP/IP protocols. In order to prevent unauthorized access in companies
and organizations, a firewall must be installed. However, HTTP is generally con-
figured to allow access through the firewall. Therefore, with an IPP connection
where communications are established using HTTP, printing from a computer is
possible with a printer outside of the firewall.
