4.7.3
Selecting the Bipolar Operating Mode
On the right control field
Bipolar Coag
that is marked blue on the front plate there are two
selection possibilities:
•
Via the single-pedal foot switch that is connected to socket (20) on the rear of the unit
(press switch button 15).
•
Via the connected bipolar instrument while the bipolar automatic operation button (16) is
connected.
Bipolar coagulation via foot switch
While the foot switch button (15) is selected, the bipolar
coagulation current is activated on the connected bipolar
instrument (socket 14) via the single-pedal foot switch that must
be connected to socket (20) on the rear of the unit. The activation
LED (12) lights up, and an activation signal can be heard.
Releasing the foot switch ends the bipolar RF activation.
Bipolar coagulation via automatic operation
While the automatic button is selected (button flashes), the
bipolar coagulation current is automatically activated when both
electrodes of the bipolar instrument come into contact with the
tissue to be coagulated. The activation LED (12) lights up, and an
activation signal can be heard. Releasing the tissue deactivates
the bipolar RF activation.
NOTICE
If a bipolar current is to be used in minimally invasive surgery, it is recommended to activate
the RF current only via the foot switch. When using the bipolar automatic activation system,
the bipolar RF current may be activated unintentionally when the bipolar instrument is lead
into or out of the trocar!
4.7.4
Function of the Micro Button
The micro button affects all monopolar and bipolar operating modes:
•
If the Micro button is activated (button flashes), the maximum
output of the unit is reduced by about 2/3 to approx. 1/3 and
can then be precisely adjusted with the power controllers (9),
(11) or (13).
