4.3 EF electrostatic filters
EF electrostatic filters can be used as filter elements of high-
er cleaning class.
The efficiency and class of filtration depends on the speed
of air flowing through the filter window. Achievable filtra-
tion class according to Tab. 17.

Electrostatic filters consist of two main components:
• filtration modules
• an electronic module that generates high voltage and
very low current.
Acceptable operating conditions for electrostatic filters:
• air flow temperature below 70°C
• relative air humidity between 15% and 98%
• size of retained particles 0.01÷50 microns (it is required
to install a pre-filter of min G4/ISO COARSE 60% class
before the electrostatic filter).
• no explosive substances in the filtered air
• no ingredients that cause aluminium corrosion
In electrostatic filters the inserts do not need to be repla-
ced but are to be cleaned. See the following pages for a
description of the steps.
EF filters require 230v/50Hz power supply for the generators.
If the automatic system is delivered with factory control sys-
tem, the power supply is independent from it.
4.3.1 Connecting active electrostatic filters
The electrostatic filters are powered by a DC generator with
an output voltage of 4000V and current capacity of 3.5mA
in an IP56 housing.
The filter anodes are powered by the electrode (+) (plus),
and the cathode is a filter housing powered by the (-) minus,
which should be connected as the unit ground.
Mount the grounding in the unit floor near the filter guides.
One generator can handle up to 8 filtering sections, i.e. one
1200 or two 600 filters.
The generator is powered with a single-phase voltage of
230V / 50Hz. The power required for one generator is 36W.
Generator dimensions: 310 x 230 x 125mm.
