6.2.6. External installations
In general a free pressure of 5 Pa is available for external installations. Malfunctions can occur if
this is not ensured.
Figure 10 shows a layout with which you can implement a system with
rectangular ducts and comply with the required free pressure. The duct system consists of a straight
piece of duct [1], a 90° bend [2] and another straight piece of duct [3]. The ducts are made of
steel sheet, the duct cross-section is to be adjusted to the machine footprint. The straight duct
pieces [1] and [3] are each 2 metres long maximum. The 90° bend [2]
has a pressure loss
coefficient of ζ ≤ 0.2. The system designed is responsible for sealing and mechanical fixing of
external installations.

For duct systems with a pressure loss greater than 5 Pa an external ventilation system with variable
air quantity must be provided. Please contact our KKT chillers service team (see

details) .
6.2.7. Process level
The chiller must not be installed more than 500 mm below the process level. There is a risk that if
the chiller is not in use the cold water can drain via the internal tank. If this is nonetheless
necessary, the Level package option (
3.26 Level package ) must be installed.
