8.1 Overview and connections
The AFA1000 series has on board RS485 coms with 3 protocols:-
Protocol Description
TEL Protocol for connection to TEL Configure Manager PC software and room controls
Modbus Modbus RTU protocol
BACnet BACnet MS/TP protocol (To connect to BACnet IP a 3 rd party router is required)

A Belden 9842 ( Two pair ) cable with a characteristic
impedance of 120 ohms is r ecom m ended. The ca ble
should be terminated with a 120 ohm ¼ Watt resistor as
shown.
A daisy chain connection should be used — a “Star” or
network with “Stubs” (Tees) is not recommended as
reflections within the cable may result in data corruption.
