4. Inspection and Maintenance
4.4 Check of the optical senso /probe
(illustration 15)
Remove the two screws from the top of
the optical sensor and remove the sen-
sor. Dip the tip of the optical sensor into
a glass of water. The motorized flap
should automatically close, the audible
alarm should sound and the LED on the
control unit should blink. Remove the op-
tical probe from the water. As soon as
the probe is taken out of the water, the
motorized flap should re-open and the
audible alarm and LED should go off.
Replace the optical probe with its gasket
back into the Staufix FKA housing, repla-
ce both screws properly.
Caution:
After any service or repair work, make
sure that the system is back in ope-
rational condition by testing the flap
with the flap close button as well as
closing and locking the manually ope-
rated backwater flap. Final step is to
make sure both the motorized and the
manually operated backwater flap are
in the open position.
4.5 Purpose of the emergency closure
flap
The emergency closure lever can be
used to completely lock the manually
operated backwater flap. When this flap
is locked no backwater will pass through
the backwater valve but at the same time
fixtures connected to the Staufix FKA
cannot be used since the flap is shut.
The manually operated backwater flap
can be closed before leaving the home
/ building prior to the drainage fixtures
connected to the FKA not being used for
an extended period of time (for example
before leaving for vacation).
If the manually operated closure flap
is locked prior to vacation, it is critical
to re-open the closure lever as soon
as you return to the home / building.
Make sure that when the manual lever
is re-opened that there is no backwa-
ter condition.
