TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM

PROBABLE CAUSE

MEASURE

The band saw blade breaks

1. The belt tension is insufficient.
2. Incorrect speed or feed rate
3. The log is loose on the rails
4. The  band saw blade hits against the
wheel flange
5. Band saw blade is not for the type of
log being processed
6. Saw band teeth hits the log before it
reaches the correct speed.
7. The blocks that aligned the blade  are
not properly aligned

1. Tighten the blade
2. Increase the speed of the band saw
blade and adjust the feeding speed, the
slower the better
3. Ensure that the log is correctly attached
on the rails before processing begins
4. Adjust the saw blade position
5. Use only recommended saw blade
6. Let the blade reach the right operating
speed before operation
7. Adjust and align the guide blocks

The saw blade becomes quickly
dull

1. Wrong type of blade is use
2. The  saw blade is spinning too fast
3. Hard wood
4. The  band saw blade is positioned
incorrectly
5. The  band saw blade is insufficient
tensioned

1. Use only recommended saw blades.
2. Adjust the blade speed, reduce speed
3. Reduce speed when cutting hard wood
4. Control how band saw blade is
mounted, mount correctly
5. Tighten the band saw blade

The saw blade jumps off the
band wheel

1. The saw blade tension is insufficient
2. Improper adjustment of the saw band
guide
3. The belts are worn
4. The band saw blade is dull
5. Feed speed is too fast

1. Adjust the tension of the saw blade
2. Adjust the gap between the blocks and
the blade
3. Adjust belt tension
4. Replace blade
5. Reduce your speed when cutting

The saw blade cuts oblique

1. The log is not rectangular
2. Feed speed is too fast
3. The saw blade is insufficient tensioned
4. The saw blade is dull
5. Saw band-steering is loose

1. Cut the log until it reaches the right
dimension
2. Reduce feed speed
3. Tighten the belt slightly
4. Replace the saw blade
5. Adjust the saw guide

The saw blade cuts rough /
uneven

1. The blade rotational speed and / or the
forward feed speed is too fast
2. Wrong type of saw blade is installed

1. Reduce speed
2. Use only recommended saw blades

The blade twists

1. The saw blade cuts too fast
2. The blade is overstrained

1. Reduce feed speed
2. Adjust the saw blade’s tension

The saw blade runs slowly or
stops during operation

1. The band saw blade is insufficiently
tensioned
2. Improper belt tension
3. Feeding speed is too fast

1. Tension band saw blade
2. Tension the belt or if belt / belts are
worn, replace.
3. Reduce feeding speed

Unusual wear of the back of the
blade

1. Band saw blade guide is worn
2. The band saw blade guide roller is loose

1. Change control blocks
2. Tension guide roller
