2.1
Introduction
This section gives detailed procedures for calibrating the
Model 2001. There are three types of calibration procedures:
• Comprehensive calibration
• AC self-calibration
• Low-level calibration
Comprehensive calibration requires accurate calibration
equipment to supply precise DC voltages and resistance val-
ues. AC self-calibration requires no external equipment and
can be performed at any time by the operator. Low-level cal-
ibration is normally performed only at the factory where the
instrument is manufactured and is not usually required in the
field.
NOTE
Low-level calibration is required in the
field only if the Model 2001 has been re-
paired, or if the other calibration proce-
dures cannot bring the instrument within
stated specifications.
Section 2 includes the following information:

States the temperature
and humidity limits for calibration.

Warm-up period:
Discusses the length of time the
Model 2001 should be allowed to warm up before cal-
ibration.

States the power line voltage limits when
calibrating the unit.

Explains how to unlock calibration
with the CAL switch.

IEEE-488 bus calibration commands and program:
Summarizes bus commands used for calibration, lists
a simple calibration program, and also discusses other
important aspects of calibrating the instrument over
the bus.

Details front panel error messages
that might occur during calibration and also explains
how to check for errors over the bus.

Comprehensive calibration:
Covers comprehensive
(user) calibration from the front panel and over the
IEEE-488 bus.

AC self-calibration:
Discusses the AC user calibra-
tion process, both from the front panel and over the
IEEE-488 bus.
2.10 Low-level calibration:
Explains how to perform the
low-level calibration procedure, which is normally re-
quired only at the factory.
2.2
Environmental conditions
Calibration procedures should be performed at an ambient
temperature of 23°± 1°C, and at a relative humidity of less
than 80% unless otherwise noted.
